This stunning coffee comes from the 1,220 farmer members of the Adame Gorbota Cooperative, formerly the Kelo Coop, which was reestablished in 2009. Cooperatives play a vital role in many producing communities, providing financing and resources, teaching best practices, and giving producers the security of knowing the coffee they produce will have a buyer. A year after reestablishment, in 2010, the co-op joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmer’s Cooperative Union, an umbrella organization established to support a sustainable coffee supply from cooperatives in the Gedeo ethnic region of Ethiopia.
