This offering is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the cooperative Guaya’b Asociación Civil, an association of 640 producers living in the municipalities of Jacaltenango, San Antonio Huista, and Unión Cantinil, within the department of Huehuetenango in Guatemala. The cooperative provides its members with access to resources such as micro-financing to ensure year-round farm maintenance, periodic upgrades and renovations are within financial reach for farmers. Guaya’b also provides technical assistance, which includes soil analysis and training on organic fertilizer production. Additionally, the organization has a centralized wet mill for coffee cherry processing equipped with environmental controls to return water used in processing to the environment free of contamination.
