In the La Libertad district of Huehuetenango in Guatemala, the Vides family’s farms Finca La Bolsa and El Rincon shine bright with a distinct thoughtfulness for everything on the farms. From the coffee, of course, to the workers, to the native animals and birds, to the natural flora of the region, Renardo is incredibly thoughtful in the way he manages his farm as a third generation coffee producer. The farms host an ample amount of towering shade trees, wildlife, and streams. The coffee pickers are accommodated at a significantly higher-than-going rate to incentivize high quality work and the return of skilled pickers year over year. Some pickers have remained on the farm for more than 40 years because of the way they are treated and valued by the family. There is also a school on the farm, funded by Coffee Care, which provides nutrition, education, and care for the children of those living on and near the farm. Simply put, if anywhere in the world there is a coffee oasis in regards to quality, beauty, sustainability and ethics, it is represented by La Frontera. For years we have been more than proud to bring this coffee home and share it to you, our friends and family.
