2013 was a great year for The Roasterie! Not only was it our 20th anniversary, but our Kansas City event space hosted some of the best events in town. From weddings to corporate events to holiday parties, we were elated to celebrate with so many wonderful people. Take a look at some of our favorite Bean Hangar events in 2013:
5. The Mayhew Rehearsal Dinner
One of our favorite events this year was a very special rehearsal dinner in the Bean Hangar. We love it when our guests take full advantage of what our event space has to offer, and that’s exactly what the Mayhew family did. This rehearsal dinner was a dinner to remember, not just because of the great venue, but because this family knew how to celebrate in style. Instead of breaking their family up to dine at separate tables throughout the room, the Mayhews set up a Tuscan table to seat all 100 guests at once. This family toasted long into the night, filling our Bean Hangar with a lot of love. It was truly a magical evening.
4. The Human Rights Campaign of Kansas City’s Inaugural Equality Brunch
In July 2013, the Bean Hangar was honored to host the Inaugural Equality Brunch for the Human Rights Campaign of Kansas City. Not only was the brunch an awesome use of our event space, but we were happy to help them further their efforts toward equality. It was great to hear speakers Mayor Sly James and State Senator Jolie Justus discuss where the movement was headed. We can’t wait to welcome them back in 2014!
3. The Mills/Hon Wedding
If there was ever an event made for The Roasterie, it was this one. In August 2013 the Bean Hangar hosted the wedding of Michelle Mills and Michael Hon, but this wasn’t the couple’s first run-in with The Roasterie. In fact, The Roasterie was a part of this couple’s first date and the proposal. We love that we are forever a part of this couple’s story.
2. The Saskin/Embry Wedding
Possibly one of the best uses of the Bean Hangar event space was the Saskin/Embry wedding in October 2013. This wedding was all about romance, paired with the unconventional industrial feel of The Roasterie’s factory. While this wedding took place within our designated event space, this couple’s love couldn’t be contained to just one room. Instead the reception made its way onto our factory floor to get the full Roasterie event experience.
1. Our 20th Anniversary Party
We ended 2013 with the biggest bash of all to celebrate The Roasterie’s 20th anniversary. We invited our customers, family and friends so we could have a great time with everyone who has helped us produce the world’s best coffee. There were ice sculptures, coffee-themed food and a big surprise for The Roasterie’s Norman Killmon. Although the party was to honor how far The Roasterie had come, Roasterie Founder Danny O’Neill couldn’t keep the attention solely on coffee. He surprised our master roaster, Norman, with a beautifully restored 1937 John Deere tractor. Even though the gift was for Norman, the gesture served as a wonderful reminder that The Roasterie has come so far because of the amazing people who support it.
